Linkin Park Promise Genre Breaking New Album!!!...... yeah right.....

Linkin Park's Mike Shinoda once again promised his fans that the new LP album will be a explosive genre-breaking that will be cutting edge and really different.

    ....wait, this sounds familiar....

Like what they said Minutes to Midnight, and how it will be totally different from anything we ever heard, right? And what did we get? An album that sounded almost exactly like a U2/Depeche Mode collab. album. Anyway, here's more from their interview with Rolling Stone:

"People just want junk food. They want throw-away junk food music that’s going to make them lethargic and fat. McDonalds is great once in a while, in moderation."

So basically your comparing your new album to a Big Mac...

"Eat it every day and you just turn into a slob. We feel the same way about music. We want to hopefully move even more into being able to make more substantial music, and we’ve always been capable of it, but sometimes, there were different things that we got excited about on each record, about what we wanted to write and what we wanted to make and what kind of statement we wanted to make. On this record, we’re definitely paying attention to the substance and the nuance, and we hope to make something that’s really cutting edge and really different."

Well they are taking a step into a different kind of album, since the new album is supposed to be a concept album. However, off the top of my head I've only heard two decent concept albums, Green Day's "American Idiot", and anything from Coheed and Cambria. Then there are the failures, such as My Chemical Romance, Dio's Magica, and Styx's Robot love affair... don't remember the name of it though.... More on the info:

"This isn’t necessarily a record that tells a story about a character or anything like that, but I do hope the record has a sonic identity, from beginning to end, that’s distinguishable from the other stuff we’ve done and distinguishable from everything else out there. I would love, at the end of the day, to be able to look at this record, and say its something totally new, totally true to the spirit of the band, and it doesn’t sound like anything else. That’s what we shoot for. I really want a record that sounds different. I would love for this record to be something that has its own identity, and can’t easily be connected to anything else. This album will be the kind of food that’s foreign to you, that you haven’t had before, and when you first taste it, you’ll go, 'This doesn’t taste like anything else I’ve had, but I think I like it.’ We’ll have to make the record and see."

I guess the McDonald's comment is justified. All I'm saying is that this is the same crap they said about Minutes To Midnight, on how it's going to be different, and raw and stripped down, and on and on and on. And you know what, it WAS different. I listened to it once. You wanna know where it is now? It's my fucking drink coaster. I don't like it when bands stay, "We wanna do something different and new" or "We wanna have a stripped down sound." Slipknot. Papa Roach. Linkin Park. Korn. These are the people who come out and say this shit. And you know what comes out of it, total garbage. The only bands that I can say came out over the top is Shinedown, Mastodon, and Seether. They went for something new and delivered. They didn't go out of there way and fuck with their shit, they just added a new twist. Chester Bennington comes out a few years ago before the release of MTM saying that he hates nu-metal.... This kinda confused me, if you hate nu-metal, why waste your time for about eight years playing music that you hate, AND, also happen to be fucking good at it too. Do we really hate it, or are we just going with the crowd on this one. They have just basically lost their originality in my opinion. They threw out the hip-hop elements and lost their crunch. I know I'm going to end up buying this album because I wanna think for the better of things but I know I'm going to be disappointed.
